Dark's Passenger

I opened my eyes, and the darkness pressed against me. It absorbed my senses and left only fear.

Only a tiny flame comforted me as I sit on the cold. Its light gave me comfort in the dark that consumed. The light of the candle reached as far as the hand could reach and was broken by brick...brick upon brick that stacked to the silence of light that lasted only lonely.

The heat of the flame gave solace in sight, but the rough of the mason gave me cages to fight. As I punch and pride, my mind only cries. It longs for the light that reflects off the stack that cages my soul. It reaches for the light out of sight that let's the crow take flight. Let me free the light. Let me see the light. Let me be the light.

-This poem is inspired by the songs and lyrics of my favorite singer/songwriter/musician, Michael Rosenberg...better known as Passenger. He will be in Atlanta on October 14, 2018. I'll be there, and if you enjoy my blog, you should be there too.
